The project objective was to design a series of three typographic book covers, representing a re-issue from a publisher. We were required to make typography the most dominant feature and have a cohesive look as a set of books. The chosen novels were Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber.
All the selected novels have an underlying theme of life-changing travel. The three stories share an adventurous tone, illustrating journeys of self-discovery.
To create an energetic feeling, I applied primary colors and created three sets of hand-rendered type to evoke a whimsical mood. I made the type grounding visual element to tie the covers together.
